Introduction 

WELCOME TO

GROOTPLAAS CHEESE ACADEMY

Grootplaas Cheese Academy presents a three day course in yoghurt and cheese making. It gives a hands on, sound foundation for the production of fermented milk products, soft, semi-soft and hard cheeses. The course equips small scale/home cheese making enthusiasts as well as farmers that need to add value to existing milk production. It is our passion to equip prospective cheesemakers with knowledge and practical skills to produce safe, outstanding and good quality dairy  products in a competing market environment.  No previous experience is necessary. Certificates of attendance will be awarded upon completion of the course. All needed for the course will be provided. One day course I Mozzarella/Pasta Filata, white and blue mold cheese can be scheduled as soon as ten students are interested.

We started out in Hartbeespoort but recently relocated to Eersterivier in the Eastern Cape. We are still on the lookout for a new space in which to host out courses. Cheese Courses

We offer one and three day cheese courses. We have recently relocated to Eersterivier in the Eastern Cape and are currently on the lookout for a new space in which to host our courses.  Send Barbie a mail if you would like to be kept in the loop.

 

The course includes Study Material, Lunches and Refreshments, In-Depth Training and Full Support following your course to ensure that you will gain the maximum benefit from your money and time spent.

BARBIE PRETORIUS

 

Barbie started a commercial dairy farm in 1999 and is very passionate about the industry. She went on to start the Grootplaas Cheese Academy with Hans Keller in 2006. It has been an 18 year journey and she loves sharing her knowledge that she has been acquiring throughout the years.

She is extremely meticulous and her attention to detail ensures a pleasant learning experience.

​

Barbie is always available to help you succeed and will guide you in your cheesemaking process for as long as

you need her, post course.

HANS KELLER

Hans has been a dairy specialist

for the past 45 years and is still committed to the Grootplaas Cheese Academy at Hartbeespoort. Being a well respected judge at dairy competitions, Hans will give you extensive and comprehensive feedback on your products and will let you know if  you have attained the typical characteristics necessary to compete in the existing market.
